Provide iBooks-compatible download link
You provide links to ePub and PDF but since those links are zipped, I can't open the file in iBooks directly on the iPad. I even tried opening the file in a separate zip file viewer (DropBox--where is your zip navigator!) but that app could only preview the PDF version...not open it in iBooks (or any other app)

Mobi files should act as a periodical
See for example how Instapaper handles this. That way, old issues are automatically moved to a "Periodicals: back issues" folder when a new issue is downloaded on the device.

Use something other than paypal.
Try wepay, google checkout, amazon payments, etc.
Paypal is a turn off to many. I was about to buy earlier, got to the paypal screen, and turned away.7 votes -
subscriptions setting customer expectations early
when a new subscriber signs up, a good idea i think is to, set the customer expectations of the service you are providing, by telling the customer;
- the first and last issue of their subscription, when to renew their subscription.
- what date (or approx) the first issue they will receive.
- what regular dates (approx) the customer can expect their digital magazine to emailed to them.
This would be useful information to tell new subscribers and would set the customer expectations.

Excellent content; good info, name mismatch
"Hacker Monthly" would seem to be geared more toward computer "hacking", rather than the more generalized content of the articles. Still enjoyed very much.

Drop PayPal as your payment gateway
It fails on iPad (which is a rising platform) and its crappy software (e.g validation failure returns URL encoded form values). Who's testing this kind of thing? Por quality worries me in a payment gateway.

startup marketing for non-SaaS
I really wish you also had startup marketing special for non-SaaS startups. Like marketplaces and social networks, since they work in a different way! There are quite a few of us that it find it of great use!

Create an index that catalogues topics, themes and authors across issues.
Some subjects come up repeatedly across issues and it's a pain to look to up every issue to find relevant articles. It'll be great to have a search and index functionality that works across issues.

The disclaimer in the footer is hard to read on lower contract monitors.
